In Clasical perspective,It is expected that Lead
Actors/Actresses need to be decent and sympathic ones. Considered that massive
people see the movies,It is common idea the actors should be role modals.
Godard,one of the most important director of France ,denied
the classical perspective of the movie. A bunch of director including Godard
started to revoluation for Cinema. They challenged the conventions of
traditional Hollywood in addition to French cinema.He was just one of
them.
Godard, one of the most important directors of the French
New Wave movement, rejects the rules of classic film storytelling(traditional
dramatic storytelling ) and records his films with episodic narration.In these
current films,where the events are not sorted chronologically and which shed
light on the social and political problems of the period, the events are told
to the audience piecemeal.The audience is expected to complete it during the
film.Sounds and spaces are reflected from real life.In this respect, the
Weekend(1967) is considered an anti-dramatic production.
In ‘the Weekend‘, which has a new current feature,we come
across as the main role of people who have the characteristics of evil
,selfish, reckless, killer and cannibal that we can encounter in real
life.Instead of a living world ,the fairy tale also depicts a world in which we
can face dangers at any moment.
Details about “The Weekend”
’The Weekend ' describes what Roland and Corinne went
through during their journey to get the inheritance from their father. But what
kind of couple ?Ignoring all the rules of society,this pleasure-oriented
couple,who live to satisfy their own desires, leaves the scene, although they
are flawed by the traffic accident that they did first without going on a
junket.During their journey, they are greeted by horns and shouts from the
community to continue on the opposite lane.These behaviors have made the chaos
environment they are in more impenetrable.
However, the fact that we often encounter traffic accidents throughout the journey reminds us of the constant presence of an environment of chaos throughout the film .
Corinne and Roland (character analysis)
The reactions of Rolan and Corinne as a result of their
vehicles somersaults are unusual. Corinne's accidental crying and screaming for
her’ Hermes ' bag is an abnormal reaction.In later scenes, we also see Corinne's
scream in the episode where she is raped. It equates rape and the burning of a
Hermes-branded bag. We witness Corinne trying to take advantage of her
sexuality throughout the film.For example,accepting a worker's offer to kiss
him to eat bread, using his legs when hitchhiking, etc.(From the point of view

Roland and Corinne's relationship is not connected by
loyalty to each other, although they are blessed by marriage.The couple share
their relationship with others. During Corinne's rape, Roland remains
unresponsive. Roland's murder by the hippie group makes no sense to

Roland, on the other hand, travels through the film with a
cigarette in his mouth..We can assume that Roland, who did not drop a cigarette
from his mouth except for his yawning, was stuck in the Oral period.It is known
that individuals who have experienced this period of distress constantly repeat
mouth movements such as smoking,selfishness, and a lot of speech.

Colors (Scene reading-criticism)
It can be said that Auteur director Godard used colors
during the film. The director,who uses colors as a form of expression,actively
uses yellow, red, and blue colors. During the Film, we see cars that crash and
characters with bad temperament.It gives us ideas for subsequent scenes
Red: Red,also known as The Color Of Love and affection,
means to mobilize emotions.Besides,it means brutality, blood and violence.
